ALS, 1824 January 24 : Monticello, to Col. Thomas Mann Randolph, Richmond.

Jefferson writes in reply to a letter from Col. Thomas Mann Randolph, written at the request of Col. Bowyer, for a suggested "list of books proper to prepare his son for the bar." Jefferson enclosed two letters written previously in reply to similar requests and adds his own recommendations "for the education of a young lawyer." The existence of the two letters of which Jefferson speaks is unknown.
